ABOUT ME
As a researcher, I explore the critical areas of synthetic and sustainable chemistry. The strategies include design of new homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts, and their diverse applications in the synthesis of chiral, bioactive and industrially important molecules. The major focus on technology transfer to the cosmetic, food, agro, pharmaceutical, neutraceutical and petroleum industries,

RESEARCH INTERESTS
Sustainable Chemistry
Recently, the utilization of biomass derived chemicals for the production of alternative fuel and value added products for industrial applications has become of great interest to the researchers. My aim is to design cheap and easily accessible non-noble metal based solid supported as well as metal free catalysts for green approaches towards such transformations.
June 2015 - May 2017
Research Associate; Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur
I had been working on the processing of biomass feedstocks; including edible, non-edible and algae oil for the production of fuel, and value added products. The design of new cost effective and green heterogeneous catalysts were realized.
Small-Molecule Activation
The activation of green house gases and industrial waste chemicals including carbondioxide, carbonmonooxide, formic acid and methanol is crucial. In general, noble metal catalysts are more effective in such cases. However, the tuning of non-noble metal catalysts may contribute to the reactivity and selectivity in these reactions.
Organic Synthesis and Asymmetric Catalysis
One of my future interests is in exploring the chemistry of non-noble metal (iron, nickel and cobalt) complexes and organocatalysts in C-H, C-C multiple bonds activations for the synthesis and functionalization of synthetically and biologically important molecules.
-
Functionalization of unactivated C−H, C=C and C≡C bonds.
-
Designing new directing groups which are readily removed or converted into useful functionality.
-
Exploring new catalytic systems for diverse introduction of important functionalities in complex molecules and cascade cyclizations.
-
Tailoring/conformational effect of directing group for selective aromatic meta- and para-functionalizations.
-
Utilization of non-noble metal catalysts and their immobilization (heterogeneous system) for easy purification of products and reusability of the catalysts.
-
Enantioselectivity and total synthesis using natural amino acid-derived ligands and others.
